The aging furnace is used for tempering workpieces and parts, as well as quenching and aging of aluminum alloy parts. Its function is similar to that of a quenching furnace, and it also belongs to the cycle running electric furnace.
The working principle of aging furnace: The hardness of aluminum alloy aging furnace is not high after quenching, but it significantly increases after being placed at room temperature for a period of time, later known as precipitation hardening, which has aroused great interest in the engineering community. Later, some aluminum alloys, copper alloys, and iron based alloys that could be strengthened through aging treatment were discovered one after another, creating a new strengthening method - aging strengthening, which is fundamentally different from the quenching strengthening of ordinary steel.
When conducting solid solution treatment before aging treatment, it is necessary to strictly control the heating temperature to maximize the dissolution of solute into the solid solution without melting the alloy. The allowable heating temperature deviation for many aluminum alloy solid solution treatments is only about 5 ℃. For artificial aging treatment, it is necessary to strictly control the heating temperature and holding time in order to achieve the desired strengthening effect. Sometimes, in production, graded aging is used, which means holding at room temperature or slightly above room temperature for a period of time, and then holding at a higher temperature for a period of time, which sometimes leads to better results.
After quenching, the structure of maraging steel changes and forms martensite. martensite is supersaturated solid solution. This steel can also be strengthened by aging treatment.
